Pictures of Guanaco Cria: Thorn and Female Cria

Pictures in first few hours of our Guanaco arrival on 23 July 2007.

'Mum - is that Cadburys chocolate?' Water-proof and insulated coat - she needed it 5 hours later!

'Feed time - at about 3 hours old'. Same signals as an alpaca early on - twitching tail. Twenty-four hours on and the tail signal is the same as an alpaca - 'radar in search' until 'lock-on' - then tail relaxes.

Arrival time - yes cria missed the log! Mum picked a very small birthing area in remote corner of paddock and paced around a circle of radius 1.5 to 3 meters for over an hour. Appeared to have a much stronger 'birthing spot' instinct than our alpaca.
