Flagstaff Alpacas has been breeding alpacas and creating alpaca products in Otago, New Zealand since 2001. We now share our farm with over 175 alpacas and now run a farmstay accommodation around our herd. As our passion for these wonderful animals has developed we have also developed a successful business case for this lifestyle through alpaca sales, alpaca product development and sales, and a variety of alpaca services as well as alpaca stud matings both at Flagstaff Alpacas or with our Alpacamobile mobile stud services. And we chose our website - wonderfulalpacas.co.nz - because that sums up these guys as they are really 'wonderful' to farm.
The alpacas themselves are content, friendly, clean and gentle animals whose low-maintenance characteristics make them an ideal lifestyle choice for new or old hands at farming or managing a lifestyle block. With the alpaca goes a strong community of like-minded breeders keen to develop the industry around this richly-rewarding and graceful animal.
We live below 'Flagstaff' on the outskirts of Dunedin in the South Island of New Zealand. Our alpaca friends comfortably roam our 25 acres, looking down the beautiful Taieri Plain and out towards the Lammerlaw Ranges. The favorite members of our herd come in many colours and disguises - from our white and cream alpaca herds, with their soft, dense and fine fleece, or the sixty or so other girls and boys offering a spectrum of solid colours through black, fawns, browns and greys.
